Working closely with experienced teachers, fischertechnik has developed the ROBO LT Beginner Lab construction kit. The kit is a playful way of introducing kids to programming simple sequences for controlling models. 180 elements, many actuators and sensors of the construction kit make as many as eight different easy to build models. By building and controlling the models, children discover and understand the wonders of everyday life: why does a merry-go-round start slowly and stop gently? Why does the light in the staircase go off by itself after a while, and how does the sliding door open without anyone pressing the switch? The centre piece of this construction kit is the new ROBO LT Controller with three inputs for sensors, two outputs for motors and a USB port. The control is reduced to the essential functions in order to minimise the complexity for the children. Detailed building instructions and the accompanying teaching booklet complete the construction kit and give leads for practical projects. Assembly, cable routing and programming are explained in vivid and graphic terms. The accompanying booklet also includes many programming tasks. fischertechnik has continued the modular principle with the ROBO Pro Light software. User interface and editing the program modules are clearly designed and explained. The program elements are linked automatically.
