These battery holder are cheap and handy, however when used with NiCd or NiMH cells high short-circuit currents may occur and e.g. a short-circuited fischertechnik connection cable could catch fire within seconds. Therefore these battery holders are not adequate in child play areas. Whereas the fischertechnik Accu Pack has a PTC over-current/short-circuit fuse. In case of short-circuit the part interrupts power supply, with revoking the short-circuit the PTC fuse cools down and regains conductivity.
