Metal-axle 80 mm: chromium plated steel fischertechnik GmbH has gradually replaced the chromium plated steel axles with plastic axles. Security in childrens' playrooms has been the driving force. Today metal-axles are only contained in the fischertechnik PROFI and fischertechnik COMPUTING construction kits. However, for fischertechnik models with high axle load and stability requirements the fischertechnik metal axles have a clear advantage over the plastic ones. Caution:fischertechnik metal-axles are eletrically conductive and inappropriate usage like e.g. plugging metal-axles into wall sockets impends mortal danger. Please, do not hand out fischertechnik metal-axles to children under age of 9 and give early warning about potential dangers.
